Action Member: Jackie Chan Stunt Team

Jackie openly admits that this film was intended to answer the critics who saw him as just an action star/director. What an answer it proved to be!

The action and the winning persona of the lead are reasons to give this four stars, but the obvious deficiencies means it’s only a three.

‘Naughty Boys’ should only be viewed for one reason – the action. All other aspects of the film fall flat on their face.

The performances from all parties are excellent, and Jackie has reinstalled a little faith in me that he is still capable of making a good action movie.

‘Police Story’ is one of the finest examples of 80’s Hong Kong cinema, with so many amazing elements that make it a joy to behold.

Despite its finale, ‘Police Story 2’ is worthy edition to any JC collection, and another example of how Hollywood action is made to look pathetic in comparison.

It was impossible to match the original classic, but Chan pulled out all of the stops to make sure he gave it his best.

Despite some wonderful Jackie moments it proves to be a movie where the need to be ‘cute’ is more important than the desire to entertain.

As an action comedy, it is one of the best efforts to come out of Hollywood in recent years as not only is it laugh-out-loud funny, but the action is still 10 times better than anything else around at the time.

Despite never straying towards originality and unlikely to win awards, there’s still an admirable mixture of action and drama to commend.

When the story steps up a gear and begins to blend in various antagonists, ‘The Gold Hunters’ becomes a joy to behold.

Although it’s not a laugh a minute showcase, it does feature some watchable routines and it is certainly good to see stars such as Sandra Ng and Anne Bridgewater in early roles.
