Budget restraints are sometimes apparent, but this doesn’t detract from another quality Yuen Biao vehicle.

‘Killer Constable’ could have been a genre film with a heart as well as a brain; as it is, this is a good, but not great kung fu film in both action and content.

It is a brilliantly constructed spoof of the martial arts genre that includes all of the elements that made Chow such a success.

If you approach a film of this nature, with this cast, with this storyline and with this lack of imagination, there is very little sympathy you (or indeed I) should expect.

‘Kung Fu vs. Acrobatic’ is bizarre. Very importantly though, it is also an entertaining and pleasantly silly film.

After an appalling first half, perhaps we can be grateful that it at least becomes watchable.

‘Legend Of The Bat’ suffers from the same problems as its predecessor, namely its headache-inducing twists and turns.

‘Legend Of The Dragon’ is a very entertaining parody of Bruce Lee movies that is packed full of Stephen Chow comedy gold.

If they’d actually bothered to spend some time on the script or even just made a more likeable leading character, ‘Looking For Jackie’ could have been a half decent underdog story.

Newcomers will enjoy the fight action, the slightly more experienced will also appreciate the comedy and the veteran viewer will be entertained by the great cast.

This is the definitive comedy horror, which coupled with Sammo Hung’s own ‘Encounter Of The Spooky Kind’ provide the two greatest examples of the genre, and therefore should not be missed.

This is possibly the second best of the true Mr. Vampire films and is a worthy purchase for all HK Horror fans.
