Director: Sammo Hung

Starts out as a fairly happy-go-lucky comedy but eventually culminates in an all action finale that is surprisingly violent for a film of this ilk.

‘Don’t Give A Damn’ provides some good action and a distracting 100 minutes, but don’t expect another Sammo masterpiece.

Chan and Hung continue to substantiate their legendary status in the cinematic hall of fame, but it is Yuen Biao who really steals the film.

‘Eastern Condors’ is a mind blowing mix of kung fu and wartime combat that will have you hooked from start to finish.

Martial arts, magic and bizarre creatures are blended together seamlessly, with expert direction.

‘Enter the Fat Dragon’ is a warm homage to the man who popularised martial arts cinema around the world.

If you prefer to see Jackie in films like ‘Shanghai Noon’ and ‘Rush Hour’ then this may not be for you, but if you want to see an alternative to his stereotyped bumbling hero then it will certainly deliver.

The action is simply electric, most notably the two-against-one finale that pits Sammo and Yuen against Liu Chia Yung.

Newcomers will enjoy the fight action, the slightly more experienced will also appreciate the comedy and the veteran viewer will be entertained by the great cast.

Instead of just relying on popular new-wave gimmicks, Sammo pushes each of the actors to their limit and, even though there is liberal use of stunt doubles, the effect is impressive to behold.

The action and the winning persona of the lead are reasons to give this four stars, but the obvious deficiencies means it’s only a three.

If you’re a fan of Hong Kong comedies then this one certainly delivers the goods and you’ll also be rewarded with a couple of hard-hitting action scenes along the way.
