By Phil Mills | Aug 28, 2018
Director Rob Letterman has confirmed that the character of Ash Ketchum will not be appearing in the new ‘Detective Pikachu’ film. According to Letterman, the story will focus firmly on the antics of Detective Pikachu (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) as he undertakes a case to track down the missing father of a friendly teen (Justice Smith). The film is due for release on May 10, 2019.
• Level 5 have revealed that a new ‘Inazuma Eleven’ anime, titled ‘Inazuma Eleven: The Seal of Orion’, will begin airing this October. The new series will revolve around a football (or soccer, if you’re American) team made up of successive generations of ‘Inazuma Eleven’ characters, who will then face-off against teams from around the world. The opening theme for the show will be ‘Butai wa Dekkai Ho ga Ii!’ by pugcat’s, while alom will perform the ending ‘Suisei Girls’.
• To celebrate the anime’s upcoming 20th anniversary, ‘One Piece’ will be getting a new anime film in the summer of 2019. The film will be the 14th in the franchise and will apparently be of “unprecedented scale”. More details are expected to appear in the next issue of Shonen Jump.
• The official website for the “final series” of the anime adaptation of Hiro Mashima’s ‘Fairy Tail’ began streaming a special promo video last week. The show will premiere on October 7, and sees the return of all of the main cast and crew from the second season.
