Anime Update #5

This week, Funimation announced nine titles that will be a part of their spring seasonal dub lineup. The shows included are ‘Tokyo Ghoul:re’, ‘Steins;Gate 0’, ‘High School DxD Hero’, ‘Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory’, ‘Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2202’, ‘Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits-‘, ‘Space Battleship Tiramisu’, ‘Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These’, and ‘Golden Kamuy’.

• The anime series based on Shigeru Mizuki’s ‘Gegege no Kitaro’ manga will be celebrating its 50th anniversary with the upcoming sixth season which premieres on April 1. To commemorate the event, Toei Animation’s official YouTube channel released an eight minute special PV to show the history of both the show and its animation style.

• A trailer has been unveiled for the second episode in the anime adaptation of Hiroshi Seko’s ‘Attack on Titan: Lost Girls’ spin-off novel. Focusing on the characters of Mikasa and Annie, the 3-episode series is being released as DVDs that are bundled with upcoming volumes of the original manga. The first part was included with the 24th volume in December, while the second will be released on April 9, and the final on August 9.

• The official website for the anime adaptation of Satoru Noda’s ‘Golden Kamuy’ manga has released a new promotional video. Premiering on April 9, the show follows a Russo-Japanese War veteran who sets off on a treacherous quest to find hidden Ainu gold. The voice cast includes Chikahiro Kobayashi, Haruka Shiraishi, Kentarou Itou, Houchu Ohtsuka, Kenjiro Tsuda, Yoshimasa Hosoya, Jouji Nakata, and Kenji Nomura.

• Finally, here’s a new PV for ‘Cutie Honey Universe’, the upcoming anime based on Go Nagai’s popular manga series. The show is part of a celebration of Nagai’s 50th anniversary as a manga artist and is being directed by Akitoshi Yokoyama. No plot details have been revealed yet but we do know that the voice cast includes Maaya Sakamoto, Yui Horie, Shintaro Asanuma, Atsuko Tanaka, Rie Kugimiya, and Rui Tanabe. The show will begin airing on April 8 on the AT-X channel.
