Arrow Films are bringing the 1966 Japanese crime thriller ‘The Threat’ (脅迫 おどし) to UK Digital on September 6 and to Limited Edition UK and US Blu-Ray on September 23/24, 2024.

Co-written and directed by Kinji Fukasaku, the film revolves around a pair of death row convicts who escape and kidnap the grandson of a doctor to collect a ransom. The cast includes Rentaro Mikuni, Ko Nishimura, Masumi Harukawa, Sanae Nakahara, and Hideo Murota.

Synopsis: Misawa (Rentaro Mikuni) appears to lead a charmed life, the very model of Japan’s post-war economic miracle. Then one day, the fragility of his existence is revealed when two violent jail-breakers turn up on his doorstep seeking refuge and threatening to embroil Misawa in their criminal activities.
