Blu-ray & DVD release: ‘Crypto Storm’

CN Entertainment are bringing the 2024 Hong Kong crime thriller ‘Crypto Storm’ (反貪風暴之加密危機) to Hong Kong Blu-ray and DVD on April 23, 2024.

Directed by Terry Ng, the film is the sixth entry into the Storm series that finds a group of ICAC investigators looking into a bank’s senior executive who is using cryptocurrency to manipulate the market. The cast includes Ron Ng, Edward Ma, Chloe So, Justin Cheung, Carrie Ng, and Adam Pak.

Synopsis: ICAC chief investigator Lo (Ron Ng) is tasked to set up a special unit to investigate a case involving a bank’s senior executive using cryptocurrency to manipulate the market. Lo enlists the aid of Tsui (Chloe So), a crypto trading platform software designer, to acquire more information. They find that the bank’s finances are in dire straits, and identify a bank executive as suspect. During the investigation process, an undercover ICAC agent is attacked by a mysterious assailant. Furthermore, the bank’s chairman gets abducted, and footage of the crime is posted online, attracting widespread attention. The kidnapper demands ransom to be paid via the cryptocurrency that’s under investigation. Due to various clues, Lo becomes increasingly convinced that the same person is behind the market-manipulation case and the kidnapping.
