Blu-ray & DVD release: ‘Hidden Blade’

Panorama are bringing the 2023 Chinese historical espionage thriller ‘Hidden Blade’ (无名 / Anonymous) to Hong Kong Blu-ray and DVD on September 30, 2024.

Written and directed by Cheng Er, the film takes place after Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor and follows a group of underground CCP members who risk their lives to send intelligence and defend the motherland. The cast includes Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Wang Yibo, Zhou Xun, Huang Lei, Mori Hiroyuki, and Dong Chengpeng.

Synopsis: On December 7, 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. The next day, the collaborationist Wang Jingwei puppet regime occupying Shanghai followed suit and declared war on the United States and United Kingdom. With the full-scale outbreak of the Pacific War, the war of resistance in China also intensifies as agents vie for intelligence behind enemy lines. Embedded deep in the Wang Jingwei regime is He (Tony Leung), the Director of Shanghai’s Political Security Department for counterespionage. Director He works to gain the trust of Japanese superior Watanabe (Mori Hiroyuki) while providing crucial intel to the Chinese Communist Party. To fulfil his mission, He carefully navigates lies and loyalties with Watanabe and other members of his inner circle including Officer Ye (Wang Yibo).
