Film Movement are bringing the 1991 Taiwanese-American comedy-drama ‘Pushing Hands’ (推手) to US Blu-ray and DVD on May 10, 2022.
Co-written and directed by Ang Lee, the film revolves around a Chinese Tai Chi master living in New York, who struggles to find his place in the world. The cast includes Lung Sihung, Wang Lai, Wang Bozhao, Deb Snyder, Lee Haan, and Lester Chan.
Synopsis: Having just moved from Beijing, elderly tai chi master Mr. Chu (Lung Sihung) struggles to adjust to life in New York, living with his Americanized son Alex (Wang Bozhao). Chu immediately butts heads with his put-upon white daughter-in-law, Martha (Deb Snyder), a writer who seems to blame him for her own paralyzing inability to focus. But when Chu begins teaching tai chi at a local school, his desire to make a meaningful connection comes to fruition in the most unexpected of ways.
