Blu-ray & DVD release: ‘Sex and Zen’

88 Films are bringing the 1991 Hong Kong erotic comedy ‘Sex and Zen’ (玉蒲團之偷情寶鑑) to UK Blu-ray and DVD on October 14, 2024.

Loosely based on the novel ‘The Carnal Prayer Mat’ and directed by Michael Mak, the film follows a recently married scholar who decides to go out and experience as many sexual conquests as possible. The cast includes Lawrence Ng, Kent Cheng, Elvis Tsui, Amy Yip, Isabella Chow, Rena Murakami, Carrie Ng, Lo Lieh, and Tien Feng.

Synopsis: A recently married scholar goes on a quest for knowledge of other people’s wives, based on his philosophical differences with the Sack Monk. He encounters the Flying Thief, who agrees to help him find women, but only if he attains a penis as big as a horse. The scholar has a surgeon attach said unit, and he’s off and running on his mission, only to find that there are obstacles to his new lifestyle, such as jealous husbands and treacherous females.
