Blu-ray & DVD release: ‘Soul Snatcher’

Edko Films are bringing the 2020 Chinese period fantasy comedy ‘Soul Snatcher’ (赤狐书生) to Hong Kong Blu-ray and DVD on May 21, 2021.

Directed by Song Haolin and Yi Liqi, the film centres around a fox demon who is sent to steal the soul of a young scholar but soon finds himself striking up an unlikely friendship with his target. The cast includes Chen Linong, Li Xian, Hani Kyzy, Pei Kuishan, and Jiang Chao.

Synopsis: To achieve immortality, fox spirit Bai Shisan disguises as a young man and travels to the human world in search of a divine pill. There he befriends the innocent scholar Wang Zijin whom he later realizes is the key to his transcendence. To keep Wang safe, Bai must bond with him on his road to the imperial examination and fends off threats from mythic creatures and evil spirits.
