Blu-ray & DVD release: ‘Watcher in the Attic’

88 Films are bringing the 1976 Japanese erotic mystery thriller ‘Watcher in the Attic’ (江戸川乱歩猟奇館 屋根裏の散歩者) to UK Blu-ray and DVD on December 16, 2024.
Based on a novel by Edogawa Rampo and directed by Noboru Tanaka, the film revolves around a boarding house landlord who likes to spy on his fellow occupants and begins to become obsessed with watching one particular woman. The cast includes Junko Miyashita, Hiroshi Osa, Renji Ishibashi, Tokuko Watanabe, and Koji Yashiro.
Synopsis: In Tokyo, 1923, Saburo Gouda (Renji Ishibashi) is exploring the secrets of his fellow occupants in an apartment building. All from above, using spy-holes in the ceilings of his neighbour’s rooms. After he sees a meeting between aristocratic Lady Minako (Junko Miyashita) and a clown, he realizes that the pursuit of Minako’s blooming dark realm of senses is drawing them closer together.
