Blu-ray release: ‘Dersu Uzala’

Imprint Films are bringing the 1975 Soviet-Japanese movie ‘Dersu Uzala’ (Дерсу Узала / デルス·ウザーラ) to Australian Blu-ray on September 28, 2022.
Directed by Akira Kurosawa, the film revolves around an explorer from the Russian army who is sent on an expedition to the snowy Siberian wilderness where he makes friends with a seasoned local hunter. The cast includes Yury Solomin, Maxim Munzuk, Vladimir Kremena, Alexander Pyatkov, and Svetlana Danilchenko.
Synopsis: An eccentric Mongolian frontiersman (Maxim Munzuk) is taken on as a guide by a Soviet surveying crew. While the soldiers at first perceive Dersu as a naive and comical relic of an uncivilized age, he quickly proves himself otherwise with displays of ingenuity and bravery unmatched by any member of the inexperienced mapping team, on more than one occasion becoming their unlikely saviour.
