Blu-ray release: ‘Lupin the 3rd’

Discotek Media are bringing the 2014 Japanese comedy action-adventure ‘Lupin the 3rd’ (ルパン三世) to US Blu-ray on May 27, 2025.

Directed by Ryuhei Kitamura and based on the manga series by Monkey Punch, the film is an origin story that follows Lupin as he forms his thieving gang to steal a Cleopatran necklace. The cast includes Shun Oguri, Jerry Yan, Tetsuji Tamayama, Go Ayano, Meisa Kuroki, and Tadanobu Asano.

Synopsis: When a rival kills his mentor and runs off with the priceless Crimson Heart of Cleopatra, Lupin (Shun Oguri) sets out to steal the necklace back…and then some! But the flamboyant thief soon realizes that he’s gotta break into the world’s most secure vault to do it! If he’s gonna pull this off, he’ll need to assemble an elite band of thieves. Lupin figures that a stoic sharpshooter, a peerless swordsman, and his favorite femme fatale should do the trick! And who knows, he might get a little help from that pesky Inspector Zenigata (Tadanobu Asano) along the way!
