Blu-ray release: ‘Revenge’

Eureka Entertainment are bringing the 1964 Japanese period drama ‘Revenge’ (仇討) to UK Blu-ray on June 19, 2023.

Directed by Tadashi Imai, the film revolves around a low-ranking samurai whose fate takes a turn for the worse after he defeats an opponent in an illegal duel. The cast includes Kinnosuke Nakamura, Tetsuro Tanba, Yoshiko Mita, Takahiro Tamura, and Ai Sasaki.

Synopsis: An innocuous comment during a weapon inspection wounds the pride of low-ranking samurai Shinpachi (Kinnosuke Nakamura), leading to an argument with his superior. The situation snowballs out of control, leading to a deadly duel and political fallout which threatens the entire clan.
