Blu-ray release: ‘Tattooed Life’

Radiance Films are bringing the 1965 Japanese yakuza action movie ‘Tattooed Life’ (刺青一代) to US and UK Blu-ray on September 23/24, 2024.

Directed by Seijun Suzuki, the film follows the flight of a yakuza hitman and his younger brother after the latter kills a yakuza boss in a double cross. The cast includes Hideki Takahashi, Masako Izumi, Hiroko Ito, Hosei Komatsu, Yuji Kodaka, Kotobuki Hananomoto, and Kayo Matsuo.

Synopsis: Tetsuo (Hideki Takahashi), a low-level yakuza is double-crossed by his boss and attacked. His younger brother Kenji (Kotobuki Hananomoto), an aspiring artist with no connections to crime, comes to his aid and kills Tetsuo’s assailant. Fearing repercussions from the yakuza they flee to Manchuria where they risk coming under suspicion of rival gangs.
