BFI are bringing the 1953 Japanese drama ‘Tokyo Story’ (東京物語) to UK Blu-ray on June 15, 2020.
Directed by Yasujiro Ozu, the film tells the story of an ageing couple who travel to Tokyo to visit their children but receive little attention. The cast includes Chishu Ryu, Chieko Higashiyama, Setsuko Hara, Haruko Sugimura, and So Yamamura.
Synopsis: Yasujiro Ozu’s ‘Tokyo Story’ follows an aging couple, Tomi and Sukichi, on their journey from their rural village to visit their two married children in bustling, postwar Tokyo.
