Filming wraps for Chen Kaige’s ‘Legend of the Demon Cat’

Filming for ‘Legend of the Demon Cat’ (aka ‘Kukai’), the new film from renowned Chinese director Chen Kaige (‘Farewell my Concubine’, ‘The Emperor and the Assassin‘), has recently wrapped.
This period drama is a Chinese-Japanese co-production that stars Shota Sometani (‘Tokyo Tribe’, ‘Parasyte’), Huang Xuan (‘The Great Wall‘), Zhang Yuqi (‘The Mermaid‘) and Eric Qin Hao (‘Chongqing Hot Pot’).
Based on a four-volume novel by Baku Yumemakura, it tells the story of a Buddhist monk and a poet, who together try to solve a historical mystery surrounding a cat demon.
‘Legend of the Demon Cat’ is now in post-production and has been scheduled for release in 2018.
