Japanese director Ryuhei Kitamura is set to helm a new American action-thriller entitled ‘Doorman’.

Written by Lior Chefetz and Joe Swanson, the film will tell the story of a woman who returns from combat and befriends a family in New York City. When a gang of thieves plot to take the family’s valuables, she fights to defend the family.

Kitamura first gained recognition back in 2000 with the low budget Japanese actioner ‘Versus‘. He then went on to helm ‘Azumi‘ and ‘Godzilla: Final Wars’, before Hollywood eventually came calling. His American debut came with the 2008 horror movie ‘The Midnight Meat Train‘, and he stuck with the genre for his 2012 effort ‘No One Lives’. Most recently, he returned to Japan to direct the live-action adaptation of ‘Lupin The 3rd’.
