
Theatrical release: ‘Spacked Out’

Kani Releasing are bringing the 2000 Hong Kong coming-of-age drama ‘Spacked Out’ (無人駕駛) to New York’s Metrograph theater on December 29, 2023.
Directed by Lawrence Lau, the film follows a young pregnant girl and her friends as they embark on a journey of drug use, suicide, betrayal, and growth. The cast includes Debbie Tam, Christy Cheung, Angela Au, Maggie Poon, Vanesia Chu, and Lam Hoi-Man.
Synopsis: In the god-forsaken satellite city of Tuen Mun, 13-year-old Cookie suspects she’s pregnant. Lately things have not been going her way. Her mother left; her father ignores her; her best friend is in reform school; and her boyfriend is off selling bootleg VCDs in bustling Mong Kok. Flanked by her ride-or-dies Banana, Sissy, and Bean Curd, she journeys into town to find an abortionist.
