‘A Legend’ (传说) is a 2024 Hong Kong-Chinese martial arts fantasy-adventure written and directed by Stanley Tong.
The film, which is a sequel to 2004’s ‘The Myth’, follows an archaeology professor and his assistant as they embark on an expedition to recover a jade pendant from the depths of a glacier. The cast includes Jackie Chan, Lay Zhang, Coulee Nazha, Aarif Lee, and Li Chen.
Synopsis: When Professor Fang (Jackie Chan) unearths a mysterious shaman’s jade during an archaeological excavation, it leads him and his assistant, Wang Jing (Lay Zhang), back to the Western Han Dynasty. There they take the form of valiant Han generals, fighting in the boundless grasslands of the Hexi River and leading the cavalry in their fight against the Xiongnu to safeguard their homeland. Fang also embarks on a past-life love affair with Xiongnu Princess Monyun (Coulee Nazha), spanning over 1,000 years. In order to find the truth, Fang and his assistant invite his friend Lei Zhen (Li Chen) to go deep into the ten-thousand-year-old glacier to find the sacred place of sacrifice to heaven, to unveil this unknown legend that spans thousands of years but was obstructed by the shaman expert Heber (Li Zhiting).
