‘Aimitagai’ (アイミタガイ) is a 2024 Japanese drama co-written and directed by Shogo Kusano.

Based on a novel by Tei Chujo, the film revolves around a woman who loses her best friend but finds comfort in continuing to send messages to her phone. The cast includes Haru Kuroki, Aoi Nakamura, Sawako Fujima, Naomi Nishida, and Tomorowo Taguchi.

Synopsis: Azusa (Haru Kuroki) and Kanami (Sawako Fujima) have been best friends since high school. After Kanami dies in an unexpected accident, Azusa despairs yet finds comfort in sending text messages to Kanami’s cell phone. Kanami’s parents wonder about Azusa’s identity, and upon visiting the orphanage that their dead daughter cared about, are moved by her good deeds. [Source: IMDB]
