‘Arata Natsume’s Marriage’ (夏目アラタの結婚) is a 2024 Japanese mystery thriller directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi.

Based on the manga by Taro Nogizaka, the film revolves around a child protection worker who is asked by one of his patients to meet with a murderer to extract information about one of their victims. The cast includes Yuya Yagira, Yuina Kuroshima, Taishi Nakagawa, Rei Maruyama, and Shiraku Tatekawa.

Synopsis: Shinagawa Shinju (Yuina Kuroshima) is a convict on death row, known as the ‘Shinagawa Clown’ because she was wearing clown make-up when she was arrested. Arata Natsume (Yuya Yagira), a child protection worker, is asked by a child of one of the victims of the case to try to contact Shinju in order to find the victim’s head, which has not yet been found. When Arata meets Shinju, she has an appearance not unlike that of the thugs who committed the atrocious crime. In order to extract information from Shinju, Arata boldly asks her to marry him. Arata is only allowed to see Shinju once a day for 20 minutes, and is at the mercy of Shinju’s behaviour, which changes each time they meet. Eventually, Shinju makes a shocking confession to Arata that she has never killed anyone. [© Far East Films]
