‘As For Me’ (早乙女カナコの場合は) is a 2025 Japanese romantic drama directed by Hitoshi Yazaki.
Based on the novel ‘Wasejo, Onna, Otoko’ by Asako Yuzuki, the film follows a couple who begin reexamining their relationship after ten years together. The cast includes Ai Hashimoto, Taishi Nakagawa, Anna Yamada, Ryoka Neya, and Sayu Kubota.
Synopsis: Kanako Saotome, who started living with a friend when she entered university, meets Nagatsuda, an aspiring playwright, at the entrance ceremony of the drama club “Charing Cross.” They start dating shortly after. After finishing her job search, Kanako lands her dream job at a major publishing company. She and Nagatsuda have been together for four years, but recently, their relationship has been marked by constant arguments. Nagatsuda talks a lot but never finishes his scripts, and he doesn’t seem interested in graduating. There are even suspicions of an affair with Maiko, a freshman who recently joined the club. During this time, Kanako is confessed to by her senior at her future workplace, Yoshizawa. As Kanako pursues her dream of becoming an editor, she finds herself drifting further apart from Nagatsuda’s way of life. Ten years after entering university—each facing their own struggles, doubts, and the future of their relationship—what will become of their love?
