Trailer: ‘Decoded’

‘Decoded’ (解密) is a 2024 Chinese thriller co-written and directed by Chen Sicheng.

The film follows an autistic math genius who is forced to abandon his academic pursuits to become a code-breaker for a secret spy agency. The cast includes Liu Haoran, John Cusack, Chen Daoming, Daniel Wu, Faye Yu, and Ren Luyao.

Synopsis: During the 1940s, the world was in turmoil and timely and accurate deciphering of enemy communication codes was crucial. Rong Jinzhen (Liu Haoran), who has demonstrated an amazing talent for mathematics since childhood, is raised by Xiao Lili (Daniel Wu), then the university president, and his wife Ye Xiaoning (Faye Yu). When he enters university, Jinzhen is noticed by more than a few people, including Zheng Mou (Chen Daoming), the head of the mysterious 701 Bureau, for solving a puzzle set by his maths teacher, Heath (John Cusack), which leads him to the world of code-breaking.
