‘Detective of Joshidaikoji’ (女子大小路の名探偵) is a 2023 Japanese mystery drama directed by Tatsuya Matsuoka.

Based on the novel ‘Jyoshidaikoji no Meitantei’ by Takehiko Hata, the film revolves around a young wannabe private detective who gets to put his skills to the test after he becomes the main suspect in a serial murder case. The cast includes Ayame Goriki, Kotaro Daigo, Rie Kitahara, Hiroki Konno, and Natsuki Hori.

Synopsis: Daiki, who works part-time as a bartender at Joshidaikoji (meaning Women’s college alley), discovers a junior high school student in cardiopulmonary arrest in a park while wearing a cosplay costume. Since it was three days after the dead body of another student was found at the same place, Daiki is brought in by the police as a suspect in a serial murder case. His sister Mio, who works at a club in Yanagase, turns up to bail him out. The two siblings always quarrel whenever they meet, but in order to prove Daiki’s innocence, they work together to pursue the real culprit in the case. [Source: Japan Program Catalog]
