‘Drawing Closer’ (余命一年の僕が、余命半年の君と出会った話) is a 2024 Japanese romantic drama directed by Takahiro Miki.
Based on the novel by Aoi Morita, the film revolves around an artist with one year left to live who finds new meaning in life by bringing joy to a terminally ill girl who has just six months remaining. The cast includes Ren Nagase, Natsuki Deguchi, Mayu Yokota, Fumino Kimura, and Nene Otsuka.
Synopsis: Akito Hayasaka (Ren Nagase) is a talented artist. He is working hard to be accepted for the Nika Exhibition, but a tumour is discovered in his heart and he is told that he has one year left to live. Akito doesn’t express his emotions on his diagnosis. One day, on the hospital rooftop, Akito meets Haruna Sakurai (Natsuki Deguchi), who is painting.
