‘Heart’s Motive’ (最后的真相) is a 2023 Chinese crime thriller directed by Li Taige.

The film revolves around a lawyer who pulls off a miraculous ‘not guilty’ verdict but the truth about the case is not as simple as it seems. The cast includes Huang Xiaoming, Yan Ni, Tumen, Kan Qingzi, Zhang Jiaxin, and Wang Yinglu.

Synopsis: Lawyer Ding Yifeng was once banned from the industry for exposing the shady practices of his own law firm, and has been in hiding ever since. By chance, he reappears and turns a sure-to-lose lawsuit into a ‘not guilty’ one, and fame and fortune follow. But the truth of the case is not as simple as it seems, and now he must make another choice between justice and fame. [© Far East Films]
