‘Lesson in Murder’ (死刑にいたる病) is a 2022 Japanese mystery thriller directed by Kazuya Shiraishi.

Based on a novel by Riu Kushiki, the film follows a university student who is contacted by a convicted serial killer as he believes he can help clear him from his final murder. The cast includes Sadao Abe, Kenshi Okada, Takanori Iwata, Miho Nakayama, and Akapen Takigawa.

Synopsis: Masaya Kakei (Kenshi Okada) is a university student who attends a school that he’s not particularly fond of. His days are generally gloomy until one day, he receives a letter from a serial killer. Yamato Haimura (Sadao Abe) used to work in a bakery until he was convicted of 8 murders and received the death penalty. At that time, Kakei was a middle school student and a customer at his store. According to the letter, Haimura confesses to having committed 7 murders, but he insists that he did not commit the last murder. And so, Kakei begins to investigate the final case…

‘Lesson in Murder’ opens across Japan on May 6, 2022.
