‘Never Say Never’ (八角笼中 / Octagonal) is a 2023 Chinese drama co-written and directed by Wang Baoqiang.

The film revolves around a man who attempts to help orphans by teaching them to fight, but his good intentions are misinterpreted and he quickly becomes a public disgrace. The cast includes Wang Baoqiang, Chen Yongsheng, Shi Pengyuan, Wang Xun, and Zhang Yitong.

Synopsis: Xiang Tenghui (Wang Baoqiang) poured his heart and soul into helping the local orphans develop their fighting talents, which allowed children who seemingly had no future to see a glimmer of hope. However, as videos of past fights were exposed, these “cruel and bloody” images outraged people who did not know the truth. Overnight, public opinion began to ferment. Xiang Tenghui’s life and the children’s future are all caught in the big net woven by people in the name of kindness, making it difficult for them to break free and return to the quagmire.
