‘Rude to Love’ (愛に乱暴 / Ai ni Ranbou) is a 2024 Japanese drama co-written and directed by Yukihiro Morigaki.
Based on a novel by Shuichi Yoshida, the film revolves around a wife who sees her quiet life ruined as disturbing events gradually begin to occur around her. The cast includes Noriko Eguchi, Kotaro Koizumi, Jun Fubuki, Fumika Baba, and Ron Mizuma.
Synopsis: Momoko has been married for eight years and lives in a house built on the grounds of her husband’s family home. To shake off the stress from her mother-in-law and the indifference of her husband, Momoko has been leading a fulfilling life, dressing tastefully, preparing elaborate meals and engaging in what she calls ‘careful living’. Then something disturbing begins to happen around Momoko. A series of suspicious fires at a nearby dump, the disappearance of her cat and an eerie account of an affair. Momoko’s supposedly peaceful daily life gradually begins to be disrupted, and before long, the cornered Momoko develops an unusual obsession with the underfloor… [© Far East Films]
