‘Serve the People’ (인민을 위해 복무하라) is a 2022 South Korean historical romantic drama written and directed by Jang Cheol-Soo.

Based on a novel by Yan Lianke, the film revolves around an ambitious young soldier who begins having an affair with his division commander’s wife. The cast includes Yeon Woo-Jin, Ji An, Cho Seong-Ha, Kim Ji-Chul, and Park Jung-Eon.

Synopsis: Mu-Gwang (Yeon Woo-Jin) is an exemplary soldier. He dreams of being successful for his wife and child. Mu-Gwang gets assigned to work as a cook at the division commander’s (Cho Seong-Ha) house. The division commander has a young wife, Soo-Ryun (Ji An).
