‘Strangers When We Meet’ (朝云暮雨) is a 2024 Chinese crime drama directed by Zhang Guoli.

Based on a true story, the film revolves around two ex-convicts who enter into a marriage in which both parties hope to fulfil their specific needs. The cast includes Fan Wei, Zhou Dongyu, Song Jia, Mao Hai, and Fan Tiantian.

Synopsis: After serving 30 years in prison, Lao Qin (Fan Wei) wants to get married and have children to start a new life. When he accidentally meets Chang Juan (Zhou Dongyu), a girl who has also just been released from prison, the pair instantly have a connection. Qin wants children while Juan needs money, so the two who were “both fallen people at the end of the world” begin a marriage hoping to further their own interests. [© Far East Films]
