‘The Asian Angel’ (アジアの天使) is a 2021 Japanese drama written and directed by Yuya Ishii.
The film follows a single father who travels to South Korea with his son to help out his estranged brother. The cast includes Sosuke Ikematsu, Joe Odagiri, Ryo Sato, Choi Hee-Seo, and Kim Min-Jae.
Synopsis: Takeshi Aoki (Sosuke Ikematsu) is a single father who lives with his 8-year-old son Manabu. He has an older brother (Joe Odagiri), but the pair became estranged. Takeshi and Manabu travel to Seoul, South Korea where his older brother lives. Unfortunately though, he is not doing well and practically lives from hand to mouth. Meanwhile, Choi Seol (Choi Hee-Seo) sings a song on the stage at a traditional market, which nobody listens to. Due to the CEO of her management agency, she is unable to sing her own song.
