‘The Dry Spell’ (渇水) is a 2023 Japanese drama directed by Masaya Takahashi.
Based on the novel ‘Kassui’ by Mitsuru Kawabayashi, the film revolves around a recently divorced waterworks employee who meets two neglected young girls and reaches out to help them. The cast includes Toma Ikuta, Mugi Kadowaki, Hayato Isomura, Machiko Ono, Nanami Yamazaki, and Yuzuho.
Synopsis: Shunsaku Iwakiri (Toma Ikuta) works for the waterworks division at city hall. His main role is to visit homes and businesses that are behind on their bills and either collect payment or shut off their water. He is not happy with his job. In his personal life, he has separated from his wife Kazumi (Machiko Ono) and their child. On a summer day and while performing his job, Shunsaku meets young sisters Keiko Koide (Nanami Yamazaki) and Kumiko Koide (Yuzuho). They have been left neglected at their home. [Source: AsianWiki]
