‘The Dumpling Queen’ (水饺皇后) is a 2025 Chinese biographical drama directed by Andrew Lau.

Based on the life of Zang Jianhe, the film follows a single mother who goes on to create one of Hong Kong’s biggest food companies. The cast includes Ma Li, Kara Hui, Zhu Yawen, Wong Cho-Lam, Fiona Sit, Michael Tse, and Ben Yuen.

Synopsis: In the 1970s, a Qingdao girl, Zang Jianhe (Ma Li), is forced to live in exile with her two daughters. In order to make ends meet and raise her daughters, Zang washes dishes during the day and scrubs cars at night. With no one else to turn to, Zang decides to sell dumplings to make a living. As she goes from strength to strength, she is surrounded by the soft-spoken and soft-hearted Sister Hung (Kara Hui), Brother Wah (Zhu Yawen), and Uncle Sugar Shui (Ben Yuen), who all give her strength. With perseverance, she makes her dumpling business bigger and bigger and her life path wider and wider. [© Far East Films]
