‘The Volunteers: To the War 2’ (志愿军：存亡之战) is a 2024 Chinese historical war drama directed by Chen Kaige.

The film, which is a sequel to 2023’s ‘The Volunteers: To the War’, tells the story of the third to fifth battles in the Korean War. The cast includes Zhu Yilong, Xin Baiqing, Zhang Zifeng, Zhu Yawen, Arthur Chen, Wang Yanhui, Xiao Yang, and Wu Jing.

Synopsis: Set during the Battle of Cheorwon, the 63rd Army of the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army (CPVA) was ordered to move into Cheorwon in May 1951 after a month-long battle against four divisions of the United Nations Army (UNA). In order to complete the task, the soldiers of the 189th Division of the 63rd Army turned themselves into nails and nailed themselves firmly to the position! [© Far East Films]
