Trailer: ‘Thorns of Beauty’

‘Thorns of Beauty’ (恋のいばら) is a 2023 Japanese romantic drama co-written and directed by Hideo Jojo.

The film, which is a remake of the 2004 Hong Kong movie ‘Beyond Our Ken’, revolves around a woman who teams up with her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend to retrieve some explicit photographs. The cast includes Honoka Matsumoto, Tina Tamashiro, Keisuke Watanabe, Ayumu Nakajima, and Miyu Kitamuki.

Synopsis: 24-year-old Momo (Honoka Matsumoto) works in a public library. She was recently dumped by her ex-boyfriend Kentaro (Keisuke Watanabe) and worries about some explicit photographs of her that he has. One day, Momo has a chance encounter with her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend Riko (Tina Tamashiro). Riko is an aspiring dancer and quite different from her. Momo decides to ask Riko for her help in deleting explicit the photographs from Kentaro’s computer. Riko initially refuses, but she later changes her mind and an unlikely bond begins to grow between the two women as they come up with a plan. [Source: AsianWiki]
