‘Trending Topic’ (热搜) is a 2023 Chinese crime drama directed by Xin Yukun.

The film revolves around a journalist who begins to uncover some hidden truths after she writes a popular article that indirectly leads to a young girl’s suicide. The cast includes Zhou Dongyu, Song Yang, Yuan Hong, Wang Hao, and Tao Hai.

Synopsis: Chen Miao (Zhou Dongyu), the editor-in-chief of a grassroots journalism platform, cracks the code to create a hit article that makes it to the top of the hot search engines. Unfortunately, she indirectly contributes to the suicide of a female student who is labelled as a “bully”. Miao then discovers a message from the female student asking for help, and she realises that there is much more to the story than she initially thought.
