‘Undead Lovers’ (不死身ラヴァーズ) is a 2024 Japanese romantic drama co-written and directed by Daigo Matsui.
Based on the manga series ‘Fujimi Lovers’ by Yuna Takagi, the film revolves around a woman who falls in love with a man but after he disappears, the world acts as if he never existed. The cast includes Ai Mikami, Kanta Sato, Yuzu Aoki, Atsuko Maeda, and Misuzu Kanno.
Synopsis: Rino Hasebe (Ai Mikami) met Jun Kono (Kanta Sato), “the man of her dreams,” when she was a child and has never been able to forget him. As a junior high school student, Rino finally meets Jun again. She continues to tell him that she loves him, and they finally find a way to be together. But at that moment, he disappeared. It was as if he never existed in this world, and no one remembers Jun. But as a senior in the light music department of his high school, as a man in a wheelchair, and as the owner of a part-time job, Jun appeared to her many times as a different person. Each time, Rino falls in love with him and expresses her feelings with all her might. What is the miraculous result of her “love” that is straight to the end? [© Far East Films]
