‘The Man of Tama River’ (多摩川の男) is a 2025 Japanese drama written and directed by Akira Ono.
The film follows a group of old friends who reunite decades after studying together at an acting school, brought back together when one of them falls seriously ill. The cast includes Akira Ono, Ryoma Ikegami, Yuka Yoshimine, Toshio Monma, Seki Show, and Rio Takaki.
Synopsis: Sixty-four-year-old Shinzo Tachibana travels from his hometown of Imabari to Tokyo with his wife to reunite with friends from his days at acting school, although one former classmate, Yoshio Ogawa, is absent. Three years later, Shinzo is diagnosed with malignant lymphoma when Yoshio unexpectedly reappears and brings their old group together for the first time in 30 years. [© Far East Films]
