‘All For The Winner’ is a fun all-round movie with a particularly pleasing performance from Stephen Chow.

A tapestry of emotion, audaciously flashing backwards and forwards and shifting voice-overs to piece together the moments that have led the characters to the barren wastes of the desert.

It is rare for such a film to hold one’s attention seemingly without trying, and as such it must not be missed by anyone who loves films of any genre.

‘Fallen Angels’ may be nice to look at, but may be equally interesting to watch with the sound off as it has very little real soul beyond its sleek facade.

It is a brilliantly constructed spoof of the martial arts genre that includes all of the elements that made Chow such a success.

‘Lethal Contact’ is as unfunny as film-making gets, with endless low-brow jokes that fail to register even the slightest smirk.

‘Rose, Rose I Love You’ is less of a straight lampoon of 60s Hong Kong cinema and more of a genuine attempt to harness the spiritedness of the original.

‘The Top Bet’ is that very parochial fusion of gambling and ‘nonsense comedy’ (mo lei tau) that many of us are still baffled by after all of these years.
