Director Huang Hong conjures up a few powerful moments that even the most cynical viewer will be touched by, utilising his excellent cast and some exceptional village scenery.

If you are willing to substitute blood for brains and real heart for cheap scares, this movie will be one you will remember long after you see it.

‘Cala, My Dog!’ is, as so many modern Chinese films are, a way of observing a misunderstood country on a detailed level.

The editing is enough to cause seasickness and confusion, while Jet’s opponents are nothing but meathead wrestlers and a criminally underused Mark Dacascos.

‘Dragon Loaded 2003’ is a typical Hong Kong comedy with a little injection of romance, but never rises above the ordinary.

The choreography is refreshing and innovative though the storyline is badly developed and cannot fall back on well-written characters.
