Blu-ray & 4K UHD release: ‘The Pornographers’

Radiance Films will release the 1966 Japanese pinku comedy-drama ‘The Pornographers’ (エロ事師たちより 人類学入門) on UK Blu-ray on June 22, 2026.
Adapted from a novel by Akiyuki Nosaka and directed by Shohei Imamura, the film follows a small-time pornographer in postwar Japan whose business and personal life begin to spiral as he becomes consumed by it. The cast includes Shoichi Ozawa, Sumiko Sakamoto, Masaomi Kondo, and Keiko Sagawa.
Synopsis: A former Buddhist monk turned erotic filmmaker, Subuyan lives with hairdresser Haru and her two teenage children. Shooting two skin flicks per day, he somehow manages to stay out of the clutches of the yakuza, but trouble begins when Haru discovers him lusting after her daughter.
