Blu-ray release: ‘Cutie Honey: Tears’

Discotek Media will release the 2016 Japanese sci-fi action feature ‘Cutie Honey: Tears’ (キューティーハニー TEARS) on US Blu-ray on March 31, 2026.
Based on Go Nagai’s manga and directed by Takeshi Asai, the film follows an android girl who rebels against an authoritarian AI regime in a bleak, rain-drenched future. The cast includes Mariya Nishiuchi, Takahiro Miura, Sousuke Takaoka, Tasuku Nagase, Ren Imai, and Hina Fukatsu.
Synopsis: In a fractured future where toxic rain falls over a city divided between privilege and decay, an artificial girl awakened with human emotions struggles to understand her purpose after the scientist who created her is killed. Drawn into an underground resistance, she forms an uneasy bond with a cynical journalist while confronting a powerful android enforcer tied to the regime that governs every aspect of society. As secrets about her origin surface, she must decide whether she is merely a weapon built to fight or a person capable of choosing her own fate in a world where even memories can be manufactured.
