Blu-ray release: ‘Failan’

Discotek Media will release the 2001 South Korean romantic drama ‘Failan’ (파이란) on Blu-ray in the US on October 27, 2026.
Directed by Song Hae-Sung, the film follows a struggling gangster whose sham marriage to a young Chinese immigrant takes on unexpected significance when he is asked to take the blame for his boss’s crime. The cast includes Choi Min-Sik, Cecilia Cheung, Son Byung-Ho, Gong Hyung-Jin, and Kim Ji-Young.
Synopsis: After losing her parents, Failan travels from China to South Korea in search of her remaining relatives, only to discover that they have already left the country. Needing a residence permit in order to find work, she enters into an arranged marriage with Kang-Jae, a small-time gangster she never actually meets. When Kang-Jae is later pressured into accepting responsibility for a murder committed by his boss, he unexpectedly learns more about the woman who became his wife on paper and begins to reconsider the direction his life has taken.
