Blu-ray release: ‘Journey to Japan: The Kyoto Connection’

Discotek Media will release the 1973 Japanese crime drama ‘Journey to Japan: The Kyoto Connection’ (ポルノの女王 にっぽんSEX旅行) on US Blu-ray on August 25, 2026.
Directed by Sadao Nakajima, the film centres on a young man whose chance encounter with a Swedish drug courier draws him into an increasingly dangerous situation involving criminals and the police. The cast includes Christina Lindberg, Ichiro Araki, Go Awazu, Yurie Hidaka, Takuzo Kawatani, Masataka Iwao, and Ryuji Katagiri.
Synopsis: Ichiro Gomikawa is a troubled young man from Kyoto who makes homemade bombs and has little success with women. After travelling to Tokyo, he encounters Swedish drug courier Ingrid Jacobsen, who mistakes him for a member of a Japanese smuggling organisation and accompanies him back to Kyoto. Their disturbing relationship takes a series of unexpected turns as Ingrid becomes caught between Ichiro, a group of criminals, and the police, leading to a desperate confrontation when the authorities discover their whereabouts.
