Blu-ray release: ‘Kamen Rider Skyrider’

Discotek Media will release the 1979 Japanese tokusatsu television series ‘Kamen Rider Skyrider’ (仮面ライダー) on US Blu-ray on August 25, 2026.
Created by Shotaro Ishinomori, the series centres on a young man who is transformed into a cyborg after being critically wounded by the terrorist organisation Neo Shocker. The cast includes Hiroaki Murakami, Isako Tanaka, Takashi Tabata, Nobuo Tsukamoto, Shinzo Hotta, and Yosuke Naka.
Synopsis: Several years after the defeat of the Delza Army, the newly formed Neo Shocker emerges to continue the legacy of the original criminal organisation. While practising hang-gliding, university student Hiroshi Tsukuba rescues Dr. Keitaro Shido, a scientist who has fled Neo Shocker after becoming disgusted by its methods. When the organisation tracks them down, Hiroshi’s fellow club members are killed and he is left critically wounded. Saved by Shido through surgery that transforms him into a cyborg, Hiroshi becomes the new Kamen Rider and dedicates himself to protecting humanity from Neo Shocker.
