Blu-ray release: ‘Madadayo’

Imprint Films will release the 1993 Japanese drama ‘Madadayo’ (まあだだよ) on Limited Edition Blu-ray in Australia on June 24, 2026.
Written and directed by Akira Kurosawa, the film follows a recently retired professor and writer whose former students continue to visit him throughout the years following his retirement. The cast includes Tatsuo Matsumura, Kyoko Kagawa, Hisashi Igawa, George Tokoro, and Akira Terao.
Synopsis: Set in post-war Japan, retired professor Hyakken Uchida adjusts to life after teaching. As the years pass, his former students continue to visit and celebrate his birthday each year, maintaining a long-standing tradition that reflects their admiration for him and the bond they share.
