Blu-ray release: ‘Ninja Wars’

Toy Robot Video will release the 1982 Japanese action fantasy ‘Ninja Wars’ (伊賀忍法帖) on Blu-ray in the UK on September 28, 2026, followed by a US release on September 29.
Directed by Kosei Saito, the film follows an Iga ninja who sets out for revenge after his lover falls victim to a sorcerer’s plot to seize power. The cast includes Hiroyuki Sanada, Noriko Watanabe, Sonny Chiba, Jun Miho, Akira Nakao, Mikio Narita, and Yuki Kazamatsuri.
Synopsis: During Japan’s Warring States period, the ambitious Lord Danjo Matsunaga seeks to possess the beautiful Ukyo-dayu after learning of a prophecy that whoever marries her will rule the world. Guided by the mysterious sorcerer Kashin Koji, he employs five supernatural monks to create a love potion, but their scheme leads to the death of Iga ninja Jotaro’s lover Kagaribi. Vowing revenge, Jotaro sets out to destroy the monks and thwart the conspiracy surrounding Ukyo.
